I've assembled most of the slides and transitions, worked out the timing of each slide, and written up the script for each slide. At 30 minutes per slide, a 30 slide presentation (5-10 minutes) will take a minimum of 15 hours of work...before the sound is added. I think I have already hit that mark and I'm still working. At this point, I'm not sure if Powtoons is a viable application for the classroom from the teacher perspective. I can't imagine choosing to spend this amount of time on a 5-10 minute presentation. As a 6th grade teacher I am skeptical that I would keep the attention of students through that length of video.
Powtoons can make a fun presentation to watch, but I think it is best used to deliver a shorter message, about 2-3 minutes. This week I'll be working on finishing up the visuals, and recording and uploading the audio. My understanding is the audio needs to be recorded in one file (all 5-10 minutes of narration). That means many takes to get the timing of the narration to match the visual. I plan to record the narration on my iphone and upload from there.
